Use a large-format tile. 24x24 or larger means fewer grout lines, which reads as a continuous surface. The eye stops counting tiles and starts perceiving the whole floor.
Match the floor and shower tile. Continuing the same tile from the floor into the shower removes a visual stopping point. The room reads as one volume, not two.
Go light, but not white. Bone, ivory, warm cream - these reflect light without the sterile feel of pure white. Bathrooms with pure white tile photograph cold even in warm light.
