Will solid hardwood gap and squeak in winter?+
Some seasonal movement is normal and expected - that's the wood breathing. Proper acclimation (5–7 days) and an in-home humidifier set to 35–55% RH keep gapping invisible.
Can I put solid hardwood over a slab?+
We don't recommend it. Slabs trap moisture that warps solid plank within a few seasons. For slab-on-grade homes, engineered hardwood is the right answer.
Won't Solid Hardwood feel cheap or look fake up close?+
Modern manufacturing has closed almost all of that gap. Premium SKUs in this tier use real-wood scans, multi-pass texture, and beveled edges - at conversational distance, most homeowners can't tell. Ask for our top three samples in this category and compare them on your own floor before deciding.
