Stack boxes flat in the install room at 65–85°F.

Sweep, vacuum, check flatness with a 6-ft straightedge. Fill low spots with leveling compound.

Lay underlayment (if not attached)
Roll out, butt seams, tape - never overlap.

Set first row
Maintain 1/4" expansion gap to all walls and vertical obstacles.

Stagger end joints 8"+
Use cut-offs from each row to start the next - minimizes waste.

Final row and trim
Scribe-cut last row, install transition strips and quarter round.

Streaks after mopping
Mop is too wet or cleaner left residue. Wring nearly dry and switch to a pH-neutral LVP-specific cleaner.
Yellow discoloration under rugs
Rubber or latex backing reacting with the wear layer. Swap to a felt or natural-fiber rug pad - discoloration may be permanent.
Planks separating at seams
Expansion gap was undersized or HVAC swings exceeded spec. Reinstall affected row with proper spacers.
Soft spots underfoot
Subfloor wasn't flat - voids under the click-lock. Lift the planks, level the subfloor, relay.
Scratches from furniture
Felt pads on every leg; lift, never drag. Light scratches can be buffed with a melamine sponge.
Edges curling at doorways
Moisture wicked from an adjacent room. Add a T-mold transition and check for plumbing leaks.

- No. Heat and forced moisture break the click-lock bond and void nearly every LVP warranty. Use a damp microfiber instead.
- Premium LVP (20-mil wear layer +) resists dents from normal furniture with floor protectors. Pianos and refrigerators need wide-base sliders or plywood underlayment to spread the load.
- Yes - it's the most pet-tolerant flooring we install. Trim nails to prevent micro-scratches and wipe accidents within an hour to avoid edge swelling.
- Click-lock LVP is walkable immediately. Wait 24 hours before placing heavy furniture so the floor fully settles into the expansion gaps.
- Yes, if the substrate is flat (3/16" in 10 ft), well-bonded, and grout lines under 1/4" are filled. Otherwise, remove first.
